We’re holding a BBQ and Steam Rally at Mellington Hall on Saturday 16th June. The engines will include the Burrell Traction Engine “Spider” pictured here and others from our own collection but there’ll be lots more from other enthusiasts in the area. The tickets for the BBQ are all sold (with the proceeds going towards the purchase of a defribillator to be positioned in the Park) but you’d be more than welcome to come and see the engines.
Interesting to note that even though the spider was built in 1908, it’s still a youngster compared to Mellington Hall which was completed over 30 years earlier in 1876. Of course, the stone to build the hall would have been cut – and hauled for part of its journey to site – using steam power!
